Dirk Swift has served with the Arizona Industrial Development Authority (AzIDA/Arizona IDA) since its inception in 2016 and was appointed Executive Director in May 2021. Prior to this role, he managed the Home Plus homebuyer down payment assistance program as Program Manager. Before joining AzIDA, Dirk spent six years with the Arizona Department of Housing, where he was instrumental in launching the Hardest-Hit Fund initiative and expanding the state’s down payment assistance efforts.
Before entering public service, Dirk built a successful 25-year career in the private sector as a mortgage banking professional. He led high-performing lending teams across both production and operations, in centralized and decentralized environments. Dirk’s experience spans retail, wholesale, and portfolio-acquisition channels, giving him a broad and deep understanding of the mortgage industry. His hands-on expertise in all facets of residential mortgage lending brings a practical, informed perspective to his current role in state service.
Dirk holds an M.B.A. from Keller Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University.
Christian Hernandez is a bilingual mortgage and business development professional with nearly 20 years of experience in banking, lending, housing education, and strategic relationship development across Arizona.
Throughout her career, she has worked closely with REALTORS®, lenders, builders, financial institutions, and community organizations to help expand sustainable homeownership opportunities and increase access to affordable housing education.
In her role with the Arizona Industrial Development Authority and HomePlus, Christian leads statewide business development and industry engagement efforts focused on increasing awareness and accessibility surrounding down payment assistance and affordable housing programs available to Arizona families.
Christian is especially passionate about simplifying complex lending concepts into practical, easy-to-understand education for both consumers and industry professionals. She believes homeownership should not feel intimidating. While purchasing a home is one of the biggest financial decisions a family can make, she believes it can also become one of the most empowering when families are guided with clarity, education, and the right support system.
She holds a Master’s degree in Business Management and a background in Corporate Law, and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
